Scarsdale Sentinel Names the Flag Design Winners

For America’s 250th and Scarsdale’s 325th anniversaries, the July 2026 issue of the Scarsdale Sentinel covered the Village’s birthday celebration and named the winners of the Scarsdale Flag Design Competition: mother and son Ling Zhu and Entong Deng. Forty-two designs from residents aged 9 to 78 were judged anonymously, and the panel combined the two finalists’ designs into the final flag, which flies at Village Hall and other key locations for the rest of 2026.

The winning flag was presented at the Village Board meeting and now flies beneath the Stars and Stripes at Village Hall. The design also appears on the Initially Shop America 250 / Scarsdale 325 calendar, postcard and T-shirt.
